The Rolex Explorer II reference 216570, Launched in 1971 for the decidedly niche community of cave explorers, the Rolex Explorer II was later refined to align with the visual language of the brand’s other sport models. It builds on the legacy of the famed Explorer I—long a favourite among aficionados—whose mythos was cemented after Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s pioneering Everest ascent. Although today’s Explorer II departs in places from the original aesthetic, it remains a superbly rugged, modern tool watch, equipped with a top-tier in-house movement and a design that faithfully honours its heritage in both sport and exploration.
