The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona was introduced in 1963 to meet the needs of professional racing drivers, pairing a dependable chronograph with a tachymetric bezel for measuring average speeds of up to 400 mph. Its name honours Daytona, Florida—a historic centre of speed and motorsport since the early 20th century.
